Exhilarating cycling action comes to a head tomorrow as the inaugural Tribal Criterium Cycling Series comes to its conclusion as the final round is battled out at the East London Grand Prix track.

Cyclists will be going all out for glory as they try and take the title.

The first three rounds of the series saw some exciting races and ComOffice cyclist Alex Odendaal will enter the final race as favourite to clinch the overall men’s title.

Odendaal triumphed in both the second and third rounds to take the lead at the top of the standings, and he will be odds-on favourite to take the crown tomorrow.

He will, however, find a stiff challenge from a number of cyclists and there should be an exciting battle on the cards between his Com-Office team and the Solarwise team.

“It is great to see two major teams in the running here, with ComOffice up against Solarwise, and we are in for some very exciting cycling,” said Tribal’s Cillian Ryan.

Odendaal’s ComOffice teammate Craig Alers finished runner-up in the last round. As such he will be in the running again, as will Solarwise’s Donovan O’ Reilly, who finished runner-up in the first two races.

In the first Crit race Solarwise took the top three places, and with the race held at the race track they will look to the experience to give them the edge.

If the winner of that race, Awie Jacobs, takes part he will be one of the favourites, while Ken Prentis will also be in the mix.

On the women’s side Cindy Schwulst, who dominated the last race, will be the favourite if she takes part and should seal the title, while Katy Knight will certainly be one of the frontrunners as well.

“It is really going to be a great finale,” said Ryan.

The second and third rounds of the Crit series were held at the track in Quenera Drive in Beacon Bay, and so far a whole host of cyclists have turned out for this different form of racing, which sees cyclists race around a track for a certain amount of time.

“We have been absolutely bowled over by the support from the East London cycling community for this series and are so excited for what the future will bring for it,” said Ryan.

“From what we have seen it will continue to grow, and next year the race will be bigger and better.

“As always we would like to thank our sponsors Twizza, the Daily Dispatch and Volvo for all their help in

hosting such a great series.”

Registration will take place at the track from 8am tomorrow with the racing getting under way from 10am. It should finish by around 1.30pm.
