A man in his early 40s died late Friday evening when he was hit by a train.

Mqala said the incident occurred at the Panmure train station near Frere Hospital in East London just after 6pm.

“It is alleged that he was crossing the railway tracks when he was hit by a train. An inquest docket has been opened for investigation,” Mqala said.
