The 16th Your Home Expo opens at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) at the beachfront today and runs until Sunday.
Organiser Rodwell Sims founded the annual show, which features everything for the exterior and interior spaces of the home, in 2001.
This year the expo boasts 280 stands both inside and outside the stylish venue.
The latest in furniture, kitchens, flooring, bathrooms, art, shutters and blinds, security systems and plumbing solutions are just some of the exhibits that will inspire homeowners at the expo, which opens at 10am today.
And for those who want to acquire another home far from the Eastern Cape, one exhibitor is even selling developments in Cyprus.
“We are running the expo over five days this year and today will be a nice peaceful day for those who want to spend more time chatting to the exhibitors,” said Sims.
Last year visitors, beaten down by the frustrations of loadshedding, were drawn predominantly to inverters and other power back-up systems.
“Energy is not as big this year,” said Sims, “Although visitors will still want to know about environmentally friendly solar power solutions.”
Sims moved the expo to the ICC last year when he decided the event needed a more “upmarket” feel.
Trade stands again fill the ground and upper floor of the chic venue, while a cheerful children’s play area is situated outside on the grass.
A new mezzanine level has been added above the restaurant where electronics store Tiekams has set up a shopping outlet.
On Saturday and Sunday expo visitors in the mood for an adrenaline rush can take a ride on Land Rover’s Terrapod ramp, which travels the national expo circuit.
Another drawcard this year are 10 competition giveaways totalling R250000, including a R120000 kitchen makeover by Kitchen Trend and a R50000 lounge suite from Winston Sahd.
Sims said a shuttle service would again be in operation along the Esplanade for those who parked further from the venue.
Tickets cost R40 for adults, R15 for scholars and R20 for pensioners.
