DEBUTING: Dumza Maswana is ready to host his first show at the Guild Theatre this Saturday
Afro-soul singer Dumza Maswana will be making his debut performance at the Guild Theatre in East London on Saturday when he launches his second album, Molo.

The launch, held in partnership with trufm, will see the singer perform with his full band of Siyasanga Dikana on keyboards, Luyanda Madope on piano, Sinikwe “Snikzo” Mabaso on drums, Shozz Shoko on bass, Msindisi Mgculo on guitar and Kananelo Leeuw, MbuSoul Fata and Sipho Mhlanga on vocals.

Driving two Trailblazer SUVs sponsored by Chevrolet, Maswana and his team leave Johannesburg for Port Elizabeth today. His first show will take place at Dopparoz in the Friendly City tomorrow.

“When people believe in your vision they do not mind being associated with you and giving you resources. I am grateful to Chevrolet and trufm for believing in me,” he said.

They will then travel through to East London for the concert on Saturday night.

Maswana released his first album, Iphupha Lam in 2010 and has been based in Johannesburg where he has been working hard to make his second album a reality.

He said he was humbled by the feedback he had received so far from his fans. “There has been a lot of support from the public and I am looking forward to sharing my latest offering with my people.”

In addition to the shows in East London and Port Elizabeth, Maswana will on Saturday afternoon conduct a live performance on Trusenz’s show at trufm from 2pm.

“This will give people an idea of what to expect at the show. At the same time it will also give those who won’t be coming an experience of what they are missing,” he said.

Maswana said he also had a few surprises for the public at both shows.

“There are some friends of mine who will be doing some performances but I don’t want to give it away,” he said.
