Anatii, who is considered one of the biggest hip-hop producers and musicians in the game, will be bringing the heat to East London this weekend.

The East London-born rapper, who caused a social media storm in September with his debut album ARTIIFACT, returns to his hometown on Saturday as one of the headline acts at the Metro FM Heat Wave.

Anatii Mnyango burst on to the scene at the age of 14, and has contributed some of the biggest songs this year having worked with the likes of AKA, Cassper Nyovest and Dream Team.

Anatii’s big break came in 2009, when he was 16, and his producing abilities and song writing skills were commissioned by the legendary composer Lebo M on four songs for the Coca-cola Summer Yammah Summahh compilation album.

He was granted the opportunity by the co-producer of the Lion King to produce one of the title tracks used during the 2009 Fifa Confederations Cup opening ceremony.

Not allowing the early attention to distract him from the bigger picture, Anatii has always remained focused on making a global impact.

Having worked and produced music for almost all the major artists in the country, Anatii took his destiny as a musician of international repute into his own hands by collaborating with a renowned US producer and hit-maker DJ Khaled and recently with Omarion on a song featured on his album.

“We met in Los Angeles in April and I played him some of the stuff I was working on for the album and everything took place very organically from there. He really liked a couple of the joints and demo-ed some vocals on them.

“We then narrowed down which record he would be on and the rest is history.

“I really enjoyed our sessions together. The energy was incredible and we shared a lot of musical knowledge.”

Anatii also brought Omarion over earlier this year on his ARTIIFACT album tour where they performed around the country.

The album also features South African acts including Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C and Uhuru, Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage and Somali-Canadian electronic duo Faarrow.

“The reception of the album has been amazing. I never expected a reception like this. I am truly humbled and grateful to everyone, who purchased and listened to my album.”

The musician will perform at the Metro FM Heat wave, which will be held at the Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday.

Hosted by Khanyi Mbau and Amaza, the annual event will feature top artist such as Riky Rick, Lulo Cafe, Major League DJs, Speedsta, Mobi Dixon, PH and many more.

Anatii said he was looking forward to coming back home, especially around this time of the year where everyone was back at home and in festive mode.

“My fans and people who haven’t seen me perform can expect a great set of songs from ARTIIFACT as well as some of the classics,” he said.

Anatii said he was working on more music for himself and other artists and on music videos for records from ARTIIFACT, starting with Tell Me featuring Omarion which will come out this Saturday. — qaqambam@dispatch.co.za
