East London’s very own DJ PH will be among entertainers ushering party-goers into the new year at The Real Countdown Festival on December 31.

The music festival will feature the likes of Thandiswa Mazwai, Agent Lungaz, Slogan, OkMalumKoolKat, Lulo Cafe, Moonchild, DJ Mbo, Jab A Jaw, Tol Ass Mo and Lady Mpumi, among many.

DJ PH, who was in the city for the annual Cruel Summer Picnic not so long ago, said he could not wait to play again in his home town.

“The vibe for this year’s festive season is different. It’s one of the best years for me. I am booked for every single day of this month, and I am excited that I get to do what I love in my home city as well.”

DJ PH has already been to Lesotho, and various cities in the country since the start of this month.

“Right now the biggest thing is pushing my single Till The Morning featuring HHP, Kwesta and Tribal. We will also try to perform it live as well, and give people what they have come to expect and love,” he said.

DJ PH said this year’s December performances are about giving people something different.

“I am also part of the Castle Lite campaign. We got to a party, and do a massive pop-up with soldiers and make a lot of noise, and I get to surprise the people with a performance.

“I will be doing that in 20 shows around the country. We did it at Cruel Summer,” he said.

The former Selborne College pupil says the first thing he does when he lands in the city is buy a Friesland milkshake and Shamrock pie.

“It is great coming back home, and I cannot wait. When I have enough time I get to drive around town and also just enjoy the scenery,” he said.

General tickets for the event cost R150 and are available at TicketPro, Edgars, CNA, Jet, Jet Mart, PostNet, and Engen and Caltex garages.
