Popular TV show auditions for presenter in E London

The popular Mzansi Magic show Our Perfect Wedding brings its first public auditions to East London tomorrow at Premier Hotel Regent.

The reality show, which has had seven successful seasons, is switching gears with a presenter search open to the public.

East London is one of three cities that have been selected to host these auditions.

Our Perfect Wedding involves soon-to-be married couples going through the preparation process as their big day looms. The host gets involved in every process from ensuring the dress is finished, to the hair and make-up, decor and catering.

The couple check every item on their wish list so that they can declare at the end of it all that they had their perfect wedding. The show has captured the hearts of the public which is evident from the tweets and Facebook posts that trend every Sunday.

Mzansi Magic’s Bongiwe Potelwa-Metsing confirmed yesterday that the auditions were on and people needed to be at the venue before 8am.

“Doors open at 8am to 6pm. We will do everything on Saturday.

“By lunchtime we hope to have done all the auditions and do our call backs.”

At the moment, Potelwa-Metsing said, they were not sure how many contestants they would be taking from the auditions.

“Everything will depend on the talent that comes through that day.

“We are looking for one presenter for the show but the talent will determine whether we will add one more presenter or not,” she said.

Potelwa-Metsing said the new presenter needs to have a warm personality and be able to connect with the brides and viewers.

Contestants must be 25 years old and upwards, should be South African citizens with a valid South African ID. The auditions will be conducted by the producers and the lucky contestants will be shortlisted for a second round of auditions. A panel of judges will select the contestants who will battle it out for the public vote in the final phase.

Potelwa-Metsing said Nomsa Buthelezi, who has hosted the show before will be on the panel of judges.

“Connect TV production team will be doing the auditions, alongside Nomsa. We will also have actress Mbali Nkosi who will be recording videos of the people outside,” she said.

While the show searches for the next presenter, Buthelezi will take over the show from Thembisa Mdoda.

Mdoda, who started hosting the show in 2015, became an instant hit on the show.

Last week Saturday her presenting skills saw her win the first ever DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice award for best presenter.

She was also named the overall winner for the night.

Other cities hosting auditions include Durban and Johannesburg. — poliswap@dispatch.co.za
