South Africa’s celebrated a cappella gospel outfit, Masibuyele kuJehova, returns to the Eastern Cape this week for two shows.

The shows are brought by Langeni Records in collaboration with Mdantsane and UCR FM.

The six-member group based in Nelspruit in Mpumalanga last performed in the province in early2000 in East London.

The first show will take place at the Mthatha Town Hall on Friday December 8, at 7pm while the second show will be at East London’s ULoyiso Community Church on December 10, at 1pm.

Masibuyele kuJehova last performed in Mthatha at the Independent Stadium in 1995 just after the release of their second album, EGetsame.

Group lead singer Fifi Mabuza said they were excited to return to the province to reunite with their fans.

“We have already started with rehearsals and will bring revival in the form of a song,” she said.

The group was formed in 1988 and they released their debut album called We All Know Jesus is Coming in 1994.

The group became a household name with popular songs like Silindel’usuku (We Bangcwele), Ngizokwendlula (kule lilizwe), and Ngiyakholwa.

To date they have a total of 13 albums.

They last released an album, Mbongeni, in 2015.

The Mthatha show will feature Mpumie Mkiwane and Bullie Mhatu while in East London they will be joined on stage by Veliswa Skeyi, Mawethu Madikiza, Khanyisa Sabuka and Butho Vuthela.

Founder of the group Belina Nkosi said their return to East London had been in response to the demands of their fans.

“We then sat down as members and decided to go and have shows there,” she said.

Nkosi said the purpose of forming the group was to preach the word of God through music.

“Even in our old age we are still committed to that covenant we made 30 years ago,” she said.

“It will be a celebratory performance for me as well.”

For the Mthatha show tickets are available at Jet Music at the Plaza Mall while tickets for the East London show are available at Music Mix in Vincent Park.

Langeni Records is giving away five tickets for each show. To win a ticket sing your favourite song of the group and send it via WhatsApp to 0736517727.
