Sisters are doing it for a good EL cause

IT’S time for the ladies to get out those black bras and high heels and strut their stuff at a charity ladies evening tomorrow.

The Gonubie Round-Table 182 and East London Ladies Circle 23 have organised a ladies evening at Gonuboz in Gonubie tomorrow to raise funds to go towards the Victoria Home Trust.

Ladies are invited to “bring sexy back” in their black bras and high heels in support of the initiative.

Gonubie Round-Table 182 is part of the Association of Round-Table of Southern Africa and are four members strong at present. They have been an active club of the association for many years and have been involved in assisting the community throughout this period. East London Ladies Circle 23, part of the national organisation Ladies Circle South Africa, is newly inaugurated and has seven members at present.

The East London Ladies Circle has run a few service projects over the last six months with this as their first major fundraising project. Although made up of seven members, the Ladies Circle also have who they call “friends” of the group who continuously offer their much appreciated assistance to the efforts made by the group.

The proceeds of the event will be donated towards the Victoria Home Trust which has been responsible for housing and caring for 46 frail and aged residents in various old-age homes around the city.

Chairwoman of the East London Ladies Circle 23, Lindi Oosthuysen said that through the event they want to show the people of this city that there are so many people in need out there that even a little bit can make a big difference.

“We decided to assist this charity as it assists the elderly from the whole East London area and not just one old-age home in isolation ,” she said.

Tomorrow night’s event is open to strictly women and forms part of the traditional event that the Round- Table hosts prior to the Gonubie Festival which is set to take place this weekend, where the tables from the Gonubie Round-Table 182 are set to have some great entertainment among other things.

“It was always a tradition to start the Gonubie Festival weekend with a ladies night, this however fell away a few years ago and this year some of the local ladies suggested we start the tradition again this year and so here we are ,” said Oosthuysen.

The night is set to be packed with fun and entertainment offering raffles, live entertainment, dinner, a guest speaker, an auction and so much more. Oosthuysen said that they hoped to raise R30000 through their efforts.

l Tickets for the ladies night will cost R150 and are available from Oosthuysen on 079 -151-7675. —
