Grahamstown artist Bruce Little’s gargantuan bronze sculpture of an African lion raised over R14-million at actor and film producer Leonardo DiCaprio’s glitzy gala fundraiser in St Tropez, France, on the weekend.
Little and his wife Cate rubbed shoulders with the likes of Dicaprio, Cate Blanchett, Penélope Cruz, Robert de Niro, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Spacey and Charlize Theron at a star-studded evening.
The event raised R643-million for environmental conservation and climate change research.
It was the most money raised since the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) established the annual gala auction three years ago.
