Armed police at scene of killing in Duncan Village

More than 20 heavily armed police are at a crime scene in Duncan Village where a man was shot and killed during a gunfire exchange with the police. His lifeless body with a visible wound on his forehead lies on the ground uncovered. Community members say they heard about 15 gunshots at about 5.30am this morning.

A woman, who wanted to remain anonymous who is staying next to where the body was found, says it was about 4am when she heard footsteps on top of her shack after that it was quiet for a while. She say she thought it was people who had come to rob her. After 5am she heard multiple gunshots next to her shack. “I was very scared I thought I was going to die.”

She says after a while she went out to investigate. “I knocked on a shack next to mine and I called out the name of the owner. He refused to open saying he was scared.”

CPF member Selina Lebuso said that crime was high in the area. “People get mugged to and from work. Pupils also get mugged at gunpoint on their way to school,” she said.
