The Democratic Alliance has written to cooperative governance and traditional affairs (Cogta) MEC Fikile Xasa, pleading with him not to endorse the appointment of the incoming Alfred Nzo municipal manager.
Zamile Sikhundla was appointed by the council on August 8.
For such senior municipal appointments to happen, the MEC has to approve them in writing but in this case he has not yet done so.
The DA says it has evidence that only two of the six shortlisted candidates were interviewed.
The municipality confirmed that this was true.
Alfred Nzo spokesperson Lubabalo Majenge explained that the employment process was above board.
