R1.5bn for roads upgrade

Roads infrastructure in and around King William’s Town is earmarked for a complete overhaul, with R1.5-billion set aside for the massive 67km project.

The R1.5-billion will be injected into resurfacing and much-needed widening of the R63 between Bhisho and Komga, as well as a separate multimillion-rand project to construct a King William’s Town bypass.

At least 600 casual jobs are expected to be created, and permanent jobs will be created through small- and medium-sized enterprises that will be roped in.
