Woman held for pair’s killing

An Eastern  Cape woman has been charged with double murder and arson after a man in his late 40s and his female friend were killed in Mdantsane this week.

The incident happened on Wednesday night in the township’s NU14.

According to Mdantsane police spokesman Captain Mluleki Mbi, the deceased man’s estranged wife arrived at his house with two men. The husband was shot dead and a female friend doused with petrol before being set alight.

“In the process, the house also caught fire and the people then fled the scene,” said Mbi.

According to Mbi the woman survived and was rushed to hospital. However, she later succumbed to her injuries.

The police were called and on investigation, a woman was arrested while her two alleged accomplices are still at large.

The woman who was arrested is expected to appear in Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday next week.
