Sudden – and random – power outages in Komani have placed the jobs of hundreds of residents at risk as big industry in the town threatens to scale down production.
Twenty big businesses and around 50 smaller businesses are at risk, with some already losing workers, and a few closing down, said the Komani branch chairwoman of the Border-Kei Chamber of Business, Adré Bartis yesterday.
The province has an (expanded) unemployment rate of 45.3%.
