“We are above, we are level-headed. We are Christians, we are saved,” she is heard saying on the voice clip.

It was released by her former manager Dr Vuyisa Matshaya, who claims he and the singer had a toxic working relationship for years, with the singer constantly bashing other musicians.

Matshaya also released a lengthy recording detailing how Nkantsu-Sabuka would not allow him to play music by other singers.

Speaking with the Daily Dispatch yesterday, Matshaya said he wanted people to know who the real Nkantsu-Sabuka was.

“Last year, she gave me a certificate for loyalty. I never expected her to acknowledge me and the work I’ve put in.

“I have done so much for her.

“During her launch last year I even bought her underwear, shoes and outfits for the show.

“That is just how much I have dedicated myself to her brand,” he said.

Nkantsu-Sabuka’s current manager and brother, Pastor Mzi Nkantsu, confirmed to the Daily Dispatch that it was definitely the singer speaking on the recording.

“This guy who recorded the conversation has been working with Khanyisa for years and we treated him like family, they were very close.

“It is clear the recordings were made while they were still on good terms and we do not know what his intentions are with circulating them,” he said, adding that when the two had a fallout, he had tried to intervene but Matshaya would not listen.

“It is grossly mischievous of him to do this because he is painting himself as an angel and Khanyisa a devil.

“If he wasn’t part of these conversations why didn’t he try to stop her?

“Where are his responses to what Khanyisa is saying?

“We want to know,” he said.

On the clip, Nkantsu-Sabuka is heard criticising singers such as Malibongwe Gcwabe, Butho and Yolanda Vuthela, Thumeka Hana, Luleka and Mawethu.

Among the things she says about the singers is that they are full of nonsense, and that other artists’ event posters are “sloppy”.

Nkantsu said they had started a process of reconciling Nkantsu-Sabuka with her fellow colleagues in the music industry.

“We apologise to those affected and the supporters, and we honestly regret this.

“Whatever this man wants to achieve by doing this won’t happen. Khanyisa will come back stronger than before,” he said.

Butho Vuthela, who is also mentioned in the clip, said he had forgiven Nkantsu-Sabuka for what she said.

“I have nothing against Sis Makhanyi and I forgive her and I hope she learns from her mistakes. As Christians, we are not supposed to behave like that but who am I to judge her? When I see her I will make sure she knows I have nothing against her,” he said. — poliswap@dispatch.co.za
