Adjournments beset Panayiotou bail hearing

Christopher Panayiotou’s defence team requested three adjournments of Tuesday’s resumption of his bail application so they to go over an affidavit they received.

Proceedings at the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court were set to resume at 2pm.

It is believed that new evidence being introduced by the state could affect the success of Panayiotou’s bail bid.

Although the contents of the affidavit have not been confirmed‚ the new evidence is thought to be about Panayiotou’s Cypriot passport.

Christopher Panayiotou is accused of orchestrating the abduction and killing of his wife Jayde last month.

No one from Jayde’s family could be seen anywhere in the vicinity of the court and only Panayiotou’s family was present.

The family occupied the front row seats in the gallery.

Panayiotou’s alleged mistress Chanelle Couts was also not present.
