On-form attackers George Lebese of Kaizer Chiefs and Prince Nxumalo from Ajax Cape Town have been included in Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba’s squad for next month’s friendlies against Costa Rica and Honduras.
Winger Lebese and striker Nxumalo have three goals apiece to top the Premier Soccer League scoring charts in the early part of the season.
Mashaba said the Central American tour‚ where South Africa meet Costa Rica in Liberia on October 8 and Honduras in San Pedro Sula on October 13‚ will be provide important experience for his players. Costa Rica and Honduras both competed in the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
“One objective is to allow the players an opportunity of playing against a team like Costa Rica who have done well at a World Cup. The other is to play teams from outside the continent‚” Mashaba said announcing the team at Safa House in Nasrec.
SA play home and away Chan (African Nations Championship) and World Cup qualifiers against Angola in November.
