A 10-year-old Scenery Park boy stumbled upon a live practice grenade while playing with a group of friends in a stream today.
Members of the East London police bomb squad were summoned to the scene in Phase 2 and confiscated the rusty grenade.
Police are now investigating how such a dangerous weapon ended up in the township.
No one has been arrested as yet.
