A teenager was arrested in Ngunduza Village in Centane‚ Eastern Cape‚ yesterday after allegedly raping a five-year-old girl who lives next door to him.
Police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha said that it is alleged the child went to play with other children at the suspect’s house.
“The suspect is alleged to have dragged the victim to his room where he allegedly raped her. The victim later went home where she broke the silence‚” he said.
Manatha said that the incident occurred on Tuesday but a case of rape was opened yesterday at Centane Police Station.
The 19-year-old suspect will appear in the Centane Magistrate’s Court next week.
