Traditional healer turns in woman who sought help to kill boyfriend

A traditional healer’s tip-off led to the arrest of a Kanana‚ Klerksdorp, woman for allegedly poisoning then burning her boyfriend to death.

The South African Police Service’s North West Media Centre said the 64-year-old was taken into custody at about 7pm on Tuesday.

“According to the information received‚ the suspect consulted with the traditional doctor and requested him to give her something that could kill her boyfriend‚” an SAPS statement said.

When the traditional healer told her that he did not have anything and “come back some other time”‚ police allege she “returned back home and poisoned her boyfriend‚ but he did not die and eventually burnt him to death”.

Following this‚ police claim‚ she placed the boyfriend’s body inside a plastic bag‚ hid him inside the garage and called the traditional healer informing him that “she…needed transport to go and throw the deceased at the river”.

That’s when the police say the traditional healer informed them about the incident.

The name of the dead boyfriend is unknown‚ and is believed to be from Namibia.

The suspect is expected to appear in Orkney Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
