Two men arrested for suspected card cloning

POLICE in Mthatha have apprehended two men suspected of being part of the of notorious card cloning syndicate, which has been operating in the town for a while.

It was like a Hollywood movie when police chased after the three suspect’s white Ford Figo down Nelson Mandela Drive towards the CBD this afternoon.

They turned onto Park Road and quickly made a sharp turn onto Victoria Street. They jumped out of the vehicle while it was still in motion and ran.

The vehicle rammed onto a parked Chevrolet outside the Mthatha Bowling Club.

Two of the men ran towards Mthatha Health Club where police caught up with them. One managed to escape.

This follows another arrest of nine men in the Mthatha CBD, who were found in possession of bank cards.

Mthatha police spokesman Mzukisi Fatyela said police had been on the tail of the three men for some time.

“They were seen at the Savoy complex on Nelson Mandela Drive cloning cards at an ATM. Police chased and apprehended them.”

The two men will appear in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
