Gugu Zulu lived in Madiba's footsteps: Mandla Mandela

Former president Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandla Mandela has praised late racing star Gugu Zulu as a person who dedicated his life to promote Madiba’s values.

“Our family‚ in its entirety‚ has been very saddened by the loss of these young enthusiastic South Africans who embraced Madiba’s legacy and lived in his footsteps to ensure that they promote South Africa‚” Mandela told SABC Morning Live on Thursday.

“We want to send our condolences both to Gugu Zulu’s family and Nathi Hlongwa’s family…They really dedicated themselves to Madiba’s course and to South Africa’s course.”

Hlongwa‚ one of the organisers of the Mandela Day Marathon‚ was brutally killed last month; while Zulu died on Monday while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in a Nelson Mandela Foundation initiative.
