Introducing Siviwe Ngxiza

SIVIWE Ngxiza’s memorabilia – a  laminated academic performance  certificate and bronze medal for  road running – is all  his family  have left to remember him by.

The sport enthusiast, who also  loved his books, was a promising  sportsman “who won everything”.

Ngxiza’s grandfather Mandla  Nothiyiwe, 68, was his number one fan.  “This will always be the memory I  have of my grandson, who if his life was not cut short could  have been the best road runner in  the country,” said Nothiyiwe.

“He loved his books, he was committed and was  excellent in any sport he played.”

On his visit to the Western Cape  in 2011, he won a medal for cross  country and under his name he has a certificate of recognition for  his overall academic performance  for Grade 7 in 2009 at Mthatha’s Ncambele Junior Secondary school.

His family says the young man wanted to study  towards a medical degree. His  class teacher, Nobuhle Ndzabe,  says he was good at both mathematics  and physical science. His grandfather, Nothiyiwe said it was sad for the family as Ngxiza died as he was left with  only one year left at high school.
