IRock Emonti music festival organisers allay noise fears

ORGANISERS of the much-anticipated DStv iRock Emonti music festival have assured neighbouring East London residents they will not be sound-blasted out of their homes.

They said measures would be put in place to ensure the noise level is not unbearable to those living near the Buffalo Park Stadium. This comes after the Daily Dispatch received calls from worried residents who live near the Buffalo Park stadium where the festival takes place.

Bunker’s Hill resident Sinclair Warner said last year when the annual Buyel’ ekhaya Music Festival took place he could not sleep because of the loud music.

“There were many people who were complaining about it,” he said.

DStv iRock Music Festival’s director Songi Stylez said the show was expected to start at 2pm on Saturday and go on until 4am the next day.

“However, at midnight we will turn down the music but the party will continue,” he said.

Stylez said the show would start again at midday on Sunday and continue until 8pm.

Some of the performers on Saturday include Lira, Ntando, Ringo, Zakes Bantwini, Donald, Thebe, Oskido, DJ Zinhle, DJ Cndo and Big Nuz.

On Sunday gospel music fans will be entertained by the likes of Khaya Mthethwa, Sfiso Ncwane, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Veliswa Skeyi and the Lusanda Spiritual Group.

Stylez said locals could get the chance to meet their favourite artists by smsing name, contact number and name of the artist they’d like to meet to 44899.

Tickets for Saturday’ show cost R180 and VIP entrance is R400.

Sunday’s show costs R150 and all tickets are available through Computicket. —
