I have been to several other countries in the world and each time I came back I felt in my heart that I was home. South Africa is a country of such abundance and beautiful people that words to describe it fully are absent. But what is happening here currently breaks my heart and I can not remain quiet anymore.
The time has come for us to realise and accept that we are all humans, irrespective of race, colour or creed. We need to know and accept that if we stand united and work together we can build something never seen before in the world – the true rainbow nation that we are meant to become.
Mere tolerance between our different races and groups is just not good enough because you can tolerate something and yet at the same time still resent it.
What we need to develop is patience with each other so that we can work together for the highest and best good of all.
Tata Madiba had patience. Over the 27 years he spent in prison he held fast to what he knew in his heart was right for South Africa. He believed and patiently stood for what he believed. This finally paid off.
We are at a decisive moment – we can either choose to demonstrate the patient commitment necessary to retain and build the legacy Madiba left us, or we can ignore his lesson and cause much harm to ourselves and our beautiful country.
