DEEMED too boring for SABC1’s All You Need is Love, TV presenter Sisanda Henna has found a new home on the small screen – as the host of Gospel Gold.

Henna, who was born in King William’s Town, was kicked off All You Need is Love after just three episodes when viewers complained he was too stiff and took the show too seriously. They wanted someone who was a bit more fun.

“I was told that I did not gel with the audience. However, I personally had no problems with the show as I love talking to people,” Henna said.

But Henna, 33, has put all that behind him and moved on to the next challenge – presenting season 13 of SABC1 flagship gospel music show, Gospel Gold, which broadcasts on Sunday nights.

“I asked them if I was the right person for the job as I did not want to find myself in the same situation as in All You Need is Love. The producers said they actually felt I was more suited for the gospel show.

“I am new to the world of gospel but I am enjoying it. I could not believe it when I got an SMS from Vusi Zion, the producer of the show. He wanted me to be part of the show.

“He said this season would differ from previous ones as they would venture out of the studio to different locations around South Africa.

“We are also going to involve our fans a lot as they are part of the Gospel Gold family,” he said.

Henna is also busy working on a historical documentary about the Eastern Cape’s former homelands, Transkei and Ciskei.

“I grew up in the homelands, so it won’t be a problem shooting this documentary. Unfortunately I can’t say more about it now,” he said.

H is behind-the-scenes work includes working on the award-winning TV drama series Intersexions.

Henna was first introduced to TV viewers as Andile, the lead actor in the SABC1 drama series Tsha Tsha, a role which earned him a Duku Duku award for best actor in a TV drama in 2003.

He has also appeared in City Ses’la , ER , Hillside and Scandal.

Henna is married to actress Bonnie Henna and the couple have two children – their biological son, Micaiah, and adopted son, Haniel.

Bonnie spent years volunteering at Baby Haven, a facility for abandoned and orphaned babies .
