M-Net to screen Pistorius interview

M-NET will screen the exclusive Oscar Pistorius interview directly after its world premiere on Friday.

The channel has announced it has secured the rights to screen ITV documentary Oscar Pistorius: The Interview.

It is the first TV interview featuring the athlete since the tragic events of Valentine’s Day in 2013 when he shot dead his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, through a bathroom door at his Pretoria home‚ claiming to have mistaken her for an intruder.

M-Net said its viewers would be able to watch the interview as part of a Carte Blanche special, minutes after its world-premiere on the UK television network on Friday.

The Carte Blanche special‚ which will include an in-depth panel discussion‚ will start at 10.55pm on both M-Net and its sister channel M-Net City (channel 115).

Soon thereafter (exact details to be confirmed), the documentary and Carte Blanche special will become available on all the DStv Catch Up platforms.

In Oscar Pretorius: The Interview‚ Peabody award-winning investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas meets up with the Blade Runner at his uncle Arnold Pistorius’s home in Waterkloof‚ Pretoria‚ where he has been under house arrest‚ awaiting sentencing after South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the High Court’s original verdict of culpable homicide to murder.

Viewers will hear Oscar’s account of what happened on the night he shot Steenkamp dead.

He also shares details about their relationship and his previous use of firearms.

Williams-Thomas also probes key details of the prosecution case which resulted in the conviction. — Tiso Black Star Group Digital
