EL roads in shocking state

FOLLOWING numerous com plaints on the bad state of roads in the Buffalo City Metro, the Saturday Dispatch took the topic to Facebook and asked the readers which roads they considered to be the worst.

“The situation is so bad that people have attempted to fill the pot holes with rubble,” Clements complained.

While some roads were seen be ing resurfaced in Gonubie, resi dents said there were plenty more waiting.

Gonubie resident “Rant Rave” said they were “atrocious”.

“Most avenues look like farm roads. This is a serious lack of interest from BCM’s part.”

Aubrey Currin said potholes in Gonubie are multiplying every day.

“I had to replace three CV boots and two shock mounts on my car and I do not have the time to at tempt lodging a claim with BCM,” said Currin.

Windermere Road in Cambridge, which leads to the cemetery, came up as one of the worst, with some readers saying it is the bumpiest road in East London.

BCM this week published a notice in the Dispatch that stated the road will be closed to traffic for rehabilitation and maintenance work.

Brenda van Heerden said it was a disgrace. “There are very few roads that are in top condition in Cambridge.”

Beverly Mopp, who uses Winder mere Road every day, said driving on it was a nightmare.

“It is a very horrific experience.”

The notice by BCM stated that the road will be closed from May 14 until June 28, but yesterday the Dispatch found the road was still being used despite the road closure signs.

The notice further stated that, “There will only be access for busi nesses in Ajax Crescent. Access to the cemetery is to be gained via Colley Avenue and Newman.” By the time of going to print BCM had not responded to questions sent to them yesterday morning. —
