Another great treat for Mthatha music lovers

STILL recovering from the hangover of an earlier music extravaganza, Mthatha residents will be treated to another festival of sound this weekend.

Some of South Africa’s biggest artists are set to descend on the city for the “Home of the Legends” jazz festival.

OR Tambo District Municipality and the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency are among the sponsors of the four-day extravaganza.

Event organisers Blaqcherries Entertainment has billed the main show as the “first biggest” jazz festival with “exhilarating” performances.

Families are encouraged to bring picnic baskets for the open-air show.

“The overarching idea is to present an interactive and irresistible musical experience using sound, interactive stage, dance, live performances, theatre of the mind, active collaborations of musicians creating a certain ambience between the audience and musicians, making it visually and instrumentally appealing,” said Zona Kamanga, one of the organisers.

Meanwhile, the popular Jaziel Brothers music group will perform at Dan’s Country Lodge outside Mthatha at 6pm tomorrow. Tickets cost R60.

Also tomorrow Maskandi musicians, Inkunz’emdaka and Icwane LeBhaca will perform at the Tsitsa Falls starting at 9am. Entrance is free.

These performances are part of Mhlontlo Municipality’s Tourism Week which started on Monday and ends tomorrow. — loyisom@dispatch.co.za
