DV man wins Cash Mania prize

SIYOLO Vuza from Duncan Village will start the new year R25000 richer after he was named as the grand prize winner of the Daily Dispatch’s Festive Cash Mania competition.

The 38-year-old father of six said he was over the moon when he received a telephone call last week informing him he was the winner.

“For a moment my whole world stood still when I was told I had won. When the news sank in later, I jumped for joy,” said Vuza.

More than 100000 entries were received during the six-week competition, which ran from November 11 until December 21.

Each week for the first five weeks one entry was drawn and the lucky winner walked away with a R5000 cash prize. In the final week, the entry for the grand prize of R25000 was picked.

Speaking from his backyard shack, Vuza said his winnings could not have come at a better time as ‘back to school’ was around the corner. “Most of my children are at school and this money will make a huge difference for the start of their new academic year.”

Vuza, who works as a driver at Blunden Coach Tours, said he dropped close to 200 entries into the entry box placed at the Dispatch’s Caxton Street office.

“Since the start of the competition I bought three to four copies of the Dispatch every day.”

Vuza said he would invest some of the money for his children’s future education and spend some on school clothes and stationery.
