Dance, art, live music and more in store for all!

THE weekend is around the corner and with most schools closed next week, we have a list of fun and exciting events happening around town to keep you and your family entertained.

UFH freedom concert

A COLLABORATION on choral music between the University of Fort Hare music department and the Neuer Kammerchor from Germany will be held on Tuesday from 6:30pm at the Guild Theatre. Tickets are R20 for adults and R10 for school children.

Agricultural show

THE annual East London Show is on this Friday until Tuesday, April 29. With a wide variety of activities for the whole family, the show promises to be bigger this year, with more than over 100 stalls. For inquiries contact 083-282-9327.

Bee Gees tribute

PRESENTS “STAYING Alive – A tribute to the Bee Gees” will be presented at The Venue at Hemingways, starting tonight until April 26. Tickets cost R120 per person and the show starts at 7.30pm.

Tunes in the trees

TEA in the Trees will hold a Tapas and Tunes evening tomorrow,, April 25, with live music from Jack Mantis and Shoman. R40 gets you in and there will be Mediterranean finger food and kitchen specials available. Bring your own drinks. Doors open at 6pm and close atuntil 10pm. The show starts at 7pm. Coming up: May 15 at 7pm, Ard Matthews from Just Jinjer performs on May 15 at 7pm. Tickets cost R150 a ticket and R100 for under 21s.

Boeretroos blues

lTonight, Wynand and Cheree will present with their latest show, The Highwaymen, featuring the music of Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings.

lOn Saturday, performing live will be actor and singer Richard van der Westhuizen will be performing live.

Dance performance

CHOREOGRAPHER Vuyo Mahashe, who is currently running a dance workshop this week, will stage be having a showcase performance at the Arts Theatre in Arcadia this Sunday from 3pm. Tickets cost R40. For further information contact 072-855-7176.

Live music at Cannon

CATCH TONIGHT is Donovan Live tonight and and then on Friday it will be Freddy and Leon Live on Friday at Cannons Pub and Grub. Both shows start at 8pm. at Cannons Pub and Grub. Free entry.

One man band

DANCE the night away with Quentin live at the Cambridge Club this Friday. Free entry. For further information contact 083-255-3468.

Solo club jive

COME waltz, jive, two-step and line dance to live music with other singles this Thursday at 7.30pm at the EL Bowling Club. Entry is R20 per person. A cash bar will be available. For details contact open. 073-243-2318.

Animal farm fun

Big Blue Autism week

THIS Friday Autism South Africa, Eastern Cape, will hold a Big Blue Awareness Walk for autism on the Esplanade in East London, starting and ending at the Lifesavers’ Shack. The walk starts at 9.30am. Entry is R5. Wristbands will be on sale for R20. For further information contact 071-360-3992.
