New beginning for Gareth Cliff and crew

YESTERDAY marked a new dawn for Gareth Cliff and his team when they launched CliffCentral.com, a new venture described as “unscripted, uncensored and unradio”.

Cliff is joined by members of his team from 5FM including Leigh-Ann Mol, Mabale Moloi and Damon Kalvari. There’s also a newcomer in the form of Siya Sangweni-Fynn.

CliffCentral.com takes a multi-screen approach and the former 5FM DJ’s show is being streamed across cliffcentral.com, DTSV.com, on mobile via the official cliffcentral.com account on WeChat as well as live on Comedy Central (Channel 122) and YouTube.

Listeners can tune in to Cliff and his team from 6am to 9am every weekday.

In addition, the brand new show “The Gareth Cliff Show Live on Comedy Central” will be aired live every Monday to Friday on Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122).

The popular radio personality and SA Idols judge left 5FM in March this year to start his own show.

Following his departure, Grant Nash has been standing in during the 5FM breakfast show.

DJ Fresh will take over from next week while Roger Goode will slot into the afternoon show from 4pm to 7pm.

The much anticipated first show saw people from around the country – and around the world – tune in from their computers and cellphones to listen to the controversial presenter and his crew.

Social networks were abuzz yesterday with comments.

Economic Freedom Fighters Supporters tweeted: “CliffCentral is already a bit addictive, Damon is not bad. Julius Malema will be interviewed tomorrow and we will be listening.”

Malema will be a guest on the show this morning.

SA TV and radio personality Bonang Matheba tweeted: “This reminds me of DJ Sbu, Yfm and Soweto TV collaboration. Radio on TV, very cool. Congratulations to Gareth Cliff.”

Zandria Engelbrecht tweeted: “Listening to you guys all the way from Los Angeles. Hearing you loud and clear, this is so awesome. Now I miss SA more.”

From 9am onwards it is expected that a combination of well-known personalities and experts in their fields as well as aspiring untapped talent will be featured on the station.

Live auditions are currently taking place after 9am for the various slots and a full lineup will be in place by June.

Cliff Central can be accessed from smart phones, computers and television. Simply go to cliffcentral.com to set it up or go to channel 122 on DStv. —poliswap@dispatch.co.za
