AN EASTERN Cape traditional circumcision initiate has died in the Transkei 12 days before the official start of the circumcision season.
Nkosinathi Gabhayi, 16, of Upper Ngqwarha, in Mqanduli, the King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) municipal area, died on June 8.
The Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders (ECHTL) will declare the official start of the season on June 20.
The initiate's mother, Fundiswa Gabhayi, was too distraught to comment.
