Mthatha frozen babies case postponed

An Eastern Cape woman — facing four counts of murder and concealment of birth – will return to court on October 15.

Melice Jacobs‚ 30‚ made a brief appearance in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court on Thursday‚ during which the investigating officer was given three months to wrap up the investigation.

Jacobs was arrested in February after the frozen bodies of four babies were found in two freezers in her New Brighton‚ Mthatha‚ house.

She had earlier told the court the dead babies were hers and that she had kept them after enduring years of abuse at the hands of her boyfriend.

She claimed the abuse resulted in miscarriages.
