The Arch is home and he’s going to put his feet up. A statement issued on Tuesday said: “Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is back at home following a week-long spell in hospital to treat a persistent infection.

“Arriving home this morning in a dressing gown with the words ‘Feet Up Arch’ embroidered on the back‚ the Archbishop paid warm tribute to his team of doctors for their expertise and generosity.”

The popular retired clergyman is said to be “spending quality time with his (wife Leah) and watching a little cricket”.

The Archbishop’s daughter‚ the Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu‚ was full of praise for her father’s medical team‚ which had prescribed lots of rest.

“They have been fantastic and we’ll be doing our best not to disappoint them‚” she said.
