Criminals open fire in hospital

Patients and employees of St Barnabas Hospital in Libode were left traumatised after armed suspects opened fire at security guards in the hospital premises last night.
Health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said the incident took place after a cash-in-transit vehicle which was being chased by a Toyota Fortuner drove into the hospital at high speed. The occupants of the Toyota opened fire at the security guards wounding both of them.
“After the shooting, the attackers escaped in their vehicle, police were called to the scene and hospital had to beef up its security arrangements no details were given as to whether money was taken from the security van,” said Kupelo.
