“In both robberies no money was stolen,” said Fatyela.

On Wednesday night the van was rammed by a Hyundai which blocked the road and a group of about 10 gunmen shot at the guards’ van, killing one in the process and injuring two of his colleagues.

Fatyela said two vehicles were hijacked and another was used as a getaway which was later found dumped near a village in Mthatha.
