Shivambu says he’ll provide for ‘the child’

Floyd Shivambu will provide for his love child like does his for “daughter and other children and adults‚ who are not my children or even relatives”.

The Economic Freedom Fighters deputy president used the party’s media e-mail list to issue a state “on personal capacity (sic)” that a paternity test confirmed that the boy is his.

The statement‚ Shivambu said‚ would be his last word on the issue and he “will never take media interviews and queries about this matter”.

“In October 2015‚ we underwent a paternity test and the results have confirmed that the child is fathered by me‚” he admitted.

Shivambu had initially denied paternity according to media reports.

In Thursday’s statement said when that a maintenance case had been brought against him “by a mother of a child born in 2012” in July this year‚ he requested a paternity test “because the information of the birth of the child was brought to my attention more than three years after the child was born”.

The same statement later said he “insisted on the paternity test because the existence of the child was brought to my attention through a publicity seeking stunt”.

“As I said on many occasions before‚ I will take full responsibility in raising the child and will provide for the child’s upbringing so that he grows to be a responsible adult‚” Shivambu said.

“I will provide for the child’s educational‚ health and other basic needs required for the child’s upbringing.

“I currently do so with my daughter and other children and adults‚ who are not my children or even relatives.”
