Students and university staff are set for another march to Parliament on Monday over fees and insourcing of workers.
By 09:00 about four public order police vans were at Parliament.
This comes as barricades of burning tyres were placed on various spots around the University of Cape Town's campuses, as some students prepare to sit for their exams due to start this week.
On Friday, protesters marched to the Bremner building and blockaded lower campus, reported broadcaster eNCA.
Protesters disputed that the National Education Health and Allied Workers Union joint shop stewards council has represented them adequately in the insourcing agreement, News24 reported UCT as saying at the weekend.
Fezeka Mehlomakhulu from UCT Fees Must Fall movement told eNCA that shop stewards went into the meeting and signed an agreement “without the consent of the people”.
The New Age newspaper reported that it would not just be UCT students and staff marching, but also students from Cape Peninsula University of Technology as well as the University of the Western Cape.
