Zwelinzima Vavi will this afternoon “announce his future‚ or non-future”‚ at the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu).
A statement from Vavi‚ who was expelled from his position as general secretary of Cosatu earlier this year after being found guilty of misconduct‚ contained no further detail.
The wording‚ however‚ suggested that he may drop his court challenge against the axing‚ following last week’s announcement that the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) would not pursue its own appeal against which had announced it would not appeal its expulsion at next week’s Cosatu congress.
The congress opens on Monday and runs until Thursday in Johannesburg.
