R10 000 reward for answers on death

A R10000 reward is being offered for information on the death of a motorcyclist killed on the N2 on Sunday morning.

Gonubie resident Etienne Bouwer, whose father-in-law, Trevor Kriedemann, was killed in the incident, said it happened around 10am.

A member of biker club Road Runners, Bouwer said they had taken a ride up to the Berlin bridge before turning back to East London minutes later.

As he approached the North-East Expressway off-ramp he noticed Kriedemann was no longer behind them.

Turning back, Bouwer said he and the other two bikers found Kriedemann lying on the ground being tended to by a concerned motorist near the Hemingways intersection.

“According to the motorist, there was a car that came down the Hemingways off-ramp but he was not sure if the vehicle hit my father-in-law.

“The car drove away before the motorist could get a registration number,” Bouwer said.

“We don’t even know what really happened. We’re not sure if the car hit him then drove away or if he just fell off his bike by himself and was injured when he hit the tar.”

Bouwer said paramedics quickly arrived on the scene but Kriedemann died before they reached the hospital.

“His heart just stopped. The paramedics tried to resuscitate him but he just didn’t wake up,” he said.

The family is offering a R10000 reward for anyone who can provide information on what took place.

“We are looking for anyone who saw anything or anyone who can help point us in the right direction. At this point we don’t even know the make of the car or have a registration number to trace.”

Bouwer said the family was still in the process of making funeral arrangements.

Kriedemann, who is survived by a wife and two daughters, was described as a warm and friendly person.

“He was the most awesome person you have ever met in your life.

“That’s why my phone hasn’t stopped ringing.

“People are really shocked.

“They are really feeling the loss,” Bouwer said.
