Electronic dance music (EDM) specialists Sounds of Summer will be heating up the party scene in East London this holiday season starting tonight with their one year birthday bash.
Rising Swedish DJ sensation Dancyn Drone, who played at the very first Sounds of Summer event last year, will be headlining tonight’s line-up on his return to East London.
East London DJ/producers Wesley Thatcher and Dan Hugo, who together form Sounds of Summer, have four events lined up for the season.
“We have an amazing line-up , both local and international,” said Thatcher.
The duo have been making waves on the EDM scene in East London for some time.
Known for their “house music” influences, they have brought a number of chart-topping acts to the city throughout the year, such as Timo ODV and Kyle Watson.
“Our goal was to create something fresh. We wanted to showcase styles of music that we are interested in,” said Hugo.
As well as Dancyn Drone, another international act in the form of the United Kingdom’s Billy Kenny will also feature in the holiday programme.
Thatcher and Hugo are also busy with another project, which they have called “WeAreHouse”, focusing purely on house music. “We want to keep changing it and will also be looking at moving around to different cities in future,” said Hugo.
The duo love working with local artists and are intent on proving that East London has some major talent.
Tonight’s event at Buccaneers Sports Pub and Grill with head-liner Dancyn Drone will also feature DJ’s Damage, Dan Hugo and Filth. Entrance is R50 between 8pm and 10pm and R70 from 10pm on. Tickets for Billy Kenny can be bought at Computicket in Checkers, Nahoon or at the door.
