Top artists lined up for summer party

MTV Base and Klipdrift are start the summer party season off with a bang with the latest edition of their Golden Beats urban party tour in East London next week.

Over the last three years, Klipdrift and MTV Base party tours have become a regular fixture on the urban music scene, touring hotspots from Soweto’s Zone 6 Venue and Chaf Pozi to Kwa-Zulu-Natal’s popular hangout spots Eyadini, Nuz Vegas Lounge, KwaMashu and Umhlanga.

The event has previously featured performances from Big Nuz, DJ Tira and DJ Cndo, Mafikizolo, Liquideep, MiCasa, DJ Shimza, Nandi Mgoma and DJ Fisherman, among many others.

The first stop this year will be Mthombo’s Palace in Mdantsane on December 15, where party lovers can dance to killer beats and sizzling performances from seasoned veterans like “The Drumboss” Heavy K and “Mr Hay’mani” Ifani alongside popular new kids on the block Dbn Nyts.

Heating up the party scene will be some of the Eastern Cape’s top acts like DJs Konke, King Wave and Cynetoire.

Port Elizabeth-born Heavy K has several South African Music awards to his name and has taken the world by storm with his strong African-inspired beats and impressive collaborations.

Ifani recently ranked number nine on the MTV Base Hottest MCs poll and will be performing tracks off his new gold-selling hip-hop album featuring the popular track Ayadelela.

Speaking to the Daily Dispatch yesterday, Heavy K said fans could look forward to hearing his popular hits such as This Love, Wena featuring Mpumi, Sweetie featuring fellow Kalawa singer Nokwazi and Yini featuring NaakMusiq.

He said performing anywhere in the Eastern Cape always felt like a homecoming.

“It’s always extraordinary because I always get that sense of being at home and being understood and fully appreciated, so I look forward to that,” he said.

Heavy K said Klipdrift and MTV Base had always shown an appreciation for his music and he was proud to be associated with them.

lTickets are now available at Mthombo’s Palace or at the door for R50 on December 15. Doors open at 8pm.
