Sex workers shot, killed in ‘self-defence’

A man accused of shooting to death two Quigney sex workers is claiming that one of them raped him and that he opened fired in self-defence.

Aaron Khoza, 47, handed himself over to police on Monday afternoon for the shooting of sex workers in the Quigney last month. There was allegedly a disagreement between him and three prostitutes over money.

He appeared in court yesterday and was not asked to plead.

The state opposed bail and the matter was transferred to the bail court for a formal bail application.

Khoza remains in jail.

In his statement to the police, which forms part of the docket, Khoza said he met a sex worker and they discussed a price before she took him to a house in the Quigney. When they arrived she wanted R40 in advance and he gave it to her.

In the statement he claims that during their sexual encounter the women swapped and another woman pleasured him and she too demanded money and an argument ensued.

“Before I said anything the ladies appeared and assaulted me with planks and heavy objects. They overpowered me and I became dizzy and they searched me,” Khoza said in the statement.

He said the women took R3000 from his wallet and claimed that he was “raped” by the second woman. The women threatened to smash his car if he did not pay them. They forced him to open the car outside, he said in the statement.

“I managed to open the boot and I fired six shots at the six ladies. They scattered and I ran for cover. Then I went home,” Khoza added in his statement.

According to docket, Khoza works as a supervisor and he is married and lives in Reeston. — siyab@dispatch.co.za
