Massive music festival to lead city into Easter

Music lovers are in for a treat this month as the industry’s heavyweights make their way to East London for the first Emonti Urban Jazz and Gospel Festival. The festival, organised by Litha Yaya and Tulas Mbuyazwe, is the first of many they hope to host around Easter in the city.

He said the second part of the event would be for jazz lovers. “From 6pm to midnight we will have jazz and later we will have dance music,” said Mbuyazwe. “Other artists expected to perform on the day include Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, Mi Casa, Zonke, Mafikizolo, AKA, The Soil, Moneoa, Mavie M, Arnie Soul, Mobi Dixon and DJ Anda. Yaya said he hoped the event would get bigger and better every year. “We will do everything in one day but going forward we will have a specific day for each genre,” he said. Yaya added that as part of their 2020 plan they wanted to host an international performer. “From next year we will have a two-day event. Going forward the festival will be a five-day event with an international artist performing,” Yaya said. lGeneral tickets for the event cost R150 and VIP tickets are R500. Tickets are available at Computicket. — poliswap@dispatch.co.za
