EC toast of Safta awards

Actors, directors, producers and make-up artists are gearing up for this year’s South African Film and Television Awards (Safta).

The awards honour people involved in film and TV making, from actors to make-up artists.

Eastern Cape production Matatiele has the most nominations from the province.

Matatiele has been nominated for the best drama, best supporting actress, best hairstyling and make-up in a TV drama and best director.

The show was directed by Rolie Nikiwe and Zuko Nodada. Nikiwe has also been nominated for the best director for TV movie for Rise.

Mthatha actress Vatiswa Ndara is nominated for the best lead actress in a TV comedy for her role on Kota Life Crisis 2.

She has been nominated alongside Robyn Scott and Chantal Herman.

Ngcobo-born actress Brenda Ngxoli has been nominated for best supporting actress in a TV drama for her role on Rockville: Season 2.

lThe Saftas take place on March 18 and 20 at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Gauteng.
