Zuma goes home to Nkandla for municipal voter registration drive

President Jacob Zuma will on Saturday join this weekend’s voter registration drive‚ by checking his name is on the list of eligible voters at his home voting station in Nkandla‚ KwaZulu-Natal.

Encouraging South Africans to register to vote in the municipal elections later this year‚ Zuma said over 22‚000 registration stations‚ which is 1‚700 more more than the last Municipal Elections in 2011‚ will be open on Saturday and Sunday.

Officials will be on hand to help those who need to register as first time voters — including young people who are turning 18 years old this year‚ those who need to re-register because they have changed voting stations as a result of moving place‚ or who have been affected by changes in ward or voting districts.

The stations will be open from 8am to 5pm. A valid South African identity document is required.
