Good rainfall, no heatwave for most of the country

Good rainfall is expected in most parts of the country this week, despite reports of a heatwave, the SA Weather Service said on Monday.

"This heatwave advisory ceases today for the northern parts of Gauteng and parts of Mpumalanga," forecaster Lebogang Mashile said.

"A heatwave usually lasts a minimum if three days. If those temperatures can't reach the criteria for three days it's not a heatwave."

Good rainfall was expected this week in Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, parts of the Free State, and the eastern part of the Eastern Cape.

There was a possibility of localised flooding in some places. The temperature, mainly in Gauteng, was expected to stay in the mid to high 20s.

Cloudy conditions were expected from Wednesday.
