Yet another new television show, the telenovela Greed and Desire, is set to make its debut on our small screens.

The show, to be screened on Mzansi Magic next month, follows the story of a family and explores the themes of ambition, wealth, power, secrets and desire.

Greed and Desire is the latest show to feature some of the former Generations stars fired in 2014.

Another show that consists mainly of the 16 fired actors is Ashes to Ashes, which returns for season two on e.tv next week.

M-Net local entertainment channels director Nkateko Mabaso said: “We welcome Greed and Desire and its stellar cast to the Mzansi Magic family and we will keep developing new, exciting programmes to keep viewers glued to their screens.”

The story is about the tragic journey of the prominent Makhetha family that sets a series of events in motion when the patriarch of the family is killed in a fit of rage.

His murder becomes the root of a dreadful secret that sees the family empire falling into the wrong hands.

The cast includes the likes of Thami Mngqolo, who played Senzo, and Thato Molamu, who played Nicholas, on Generations, Nthati Moshesh, Xoli Zondi, Sello Sebotsane, Buyile Mdladla, Linda Sebezo, Nkopano Mohola, Motsoaledi Setum, Keaby Mash-ugane, Kamo Letsosa and Bonginkosi Shibe.

Speaking with the Daily Dispatch yesterday, Zondi said the storyline would blow viewers away.

“I play the role of Nqobile Gigaba, a grounded rural businesswoman who runs her own businesses.

“At first she is a simple woman but as the story progresses she discovers there is an inheritance waiting for her, ” said Zondi.

Zondi has played alongside Molamu and Mngqolo on Generations, as Zodwa.

lGreed and Desire debuts on the 4th of next month at 7.30pm, Mondays to Thursdays. — poliswap@dispatch.co.za
